The Baltic Sea Cycle Route

Cycle from Lübeck to Stralsund accompanied by the sound of the sea. The landscape and beautiful Hanseatic towns are an enchanting sight.

Go on an 8-day journey from Lübeck, the mother of all Hanseatic towns, to Stralsund, the gateway to the Island of Rügen. Discover the charming town with its quaint restaurants and lovely old town.
The first part of your cycle tour will take you to Wismar, the landscape on route is truly divine. Accompanied by seagulls, you will reach the old Hanseatic town, whose old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the next leg of your cycle tour, you will follow the Baltic Sea coastline along the Salzhaff and discover delightful Baltic beaches and a wonderful Boddenlandschaft (lagoon area).
Wave at the ferries in Warnemünde and continue your journey. Through the green vista of the Rostock Heide (heath) and onto the beaches of Fischland. Cross the dykes to reach the next stage of your journey. Experience the unadulterated pleasure of the Baltic Sea, the sensation of wind and healthy, fresh air. This stretch will take you back to the mainland and into part of the Nationalpark Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft. One of the most beautiful stretches of coastline is reached by crossing the Darß forest just before you get to the towns of Bodden- and Vinetastadt Barth, your next to last stage.
Enjoy the unique Boddenlandschaft again on the last leg of your route. Cycle over or behind the dykes until Strelasund. Stralsund, your last milestone, awaits you from afar. The town is ideal for exploring on foot. Stralsund offers many possibilities for exploration with its historic town centre and monasteries and churches.
