MÜRITZEUM - The nature experience centre in Waren (Müritz)
The Müritzeum has an interactive exhibition on the beauties and special features of the Mecklenburg Lakes and the Müritz National Park Way. Visitors may take a peek into the habitats of forest, water, moor and air. Observe 50 different species of freshwater fish, crustaceans and aquatic plants kept in 25 tanks in Germany's largest aquarium landscape for native freshwater fish.
The Müritzeum is a multimedia nature experience centre. The highlight is the aquarium landscape with its numerous display tanks. The exhibitions are scientifically supervised and based on the unique Natural History State Collection of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The permanent exhibition on the subject of "collecting, preserving, researching" gives information on the collection founded by Baron Hermann von Maltzan in 1866. Take a walk around the idyllic Lake Herrensee in the museum gardens. Children will love the adventure playground. Here, children can become pirates on the high seas. The Müritzeum is a family-friendly and barrier-free building. Open daily from 10:00 a.m.
