At the eastern end of the beach you will find the water sports area and a water sports center at stairway 31. Here you can also rent a SUP on calm days. However, as soon as the wind blows from southwest to north, Markgrafenheide is a recommendable surf spot.
Due to the proximity to Rostock, a lot of bathing activity is to be expected at this spot, especially in summer. The largest part of the beach is therefore reserved exclusively for bathers in the summer. If you want to surf here, you have to go on the water at the easternmost end of the beach. This area is a bit more secluded and can't be reached without a short walk. You can find a cool water sports center at StrandResort Markgrafenheide. Here you can also learn sailing or rent a SUP board on calm days to explore the coast. On stormy days only experienced surfers should go on the water because the many groynes on the shore can quickly become a danger. The spot is suitable for wind directions from SW to N.
