The SOS village community offers visitors a variety of offers. The products of agriculture, market garden, cheese dairy, textile and wood workshop can be purchased in the village store. The café, with adjacent playground, sculpture trail and farm animals, is a welcome destination in the region.
In the SOS Village Community Grimmen-Hohenwieden, adult people with thinking and learning disabilities are cared for. Residential places are available in family-like house communities and in the training residential area. The workshop for disabled people (WfbM) offers employees a wide range of learning and work opportunities. Vocational training and workplaces are available for this purpose.
The farmers cultivate 50 hectares of land in an ecological way according to the guidelines of the Demeter cultivation association. Every day, 16 dairy cows provide the milk for Hohenwieden's cheese specialties, which are produced in the farm's own cheese dairy. Over 50 different crops are grown in the organic nursery. The village's own forest provides firewood for sale. In the wood and textile workshop, handcrafted high-quality fabrics, utility and decorative items, toys, small furniture and table linens are created. Individual customer wishes are also fulfilled.
The items are available for sale in the village's farm store. The farm store and Café QUH are open Wednesdays through Sundays and invite visitors to linger with homemade cakes, adjacent playground and sculpture trail. The café and the hall of the village community center are ideal for conferences, seminars, events and birthday parties for up to 80 people.
