Rostock Zoological Garden

Visitors to the largest zoo along the German Baltic coast will encounter 4,500 animals in 320 species from all over the world.

Visitors to the largest zoo along the German Baltic coast will encounter 4,500 animals in 320 species from all over the world. Spread over 20,000 m² and home to 40 spectacular animal species, the Darwineum is a form of environmental education and tangible science to get involved and provoke thought. The evolution of life's biological diversity is immediately visible across two exhibition areas. The heart of the Darwineum beats in its modern tropical hall – home to gorillas and orang-utans.  And all round, the park and its huge variety of botanical features invite visitors to linger and relax beneath ancient trees.
